TEN T Revision Provisional Agreement

- By 2040, passenger rail lines on the TEN-T core and extended core networks must allow trains to move at 160 km/h or faster.
- The European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) must be implemented across the whole TEN-T network as the one European signalling system, and national legacy ‚class B‘ systems must be gradually decommissioned
- By 2040, safe and secure parking areas must be constructed on the TEN-T’s core and extended core road networks, on average every 150 kilometres.
- Major airports with more than 12 million passengers per year would need to be linked by long-distance rail.
- The number of transhipment terminals must grow in accordance with present and anticipated traffic flows, as well as the sector’s needs.
- All 430 large cities along the TEN-T network will be required to adopt Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans.
- The European Maritime Space intends to integrate maritime space with other modes of transportation in an efficient, viable, and sustainable manner. Short-sea shipping routes will be modernised and new ones will be built for this purpose, as will marine ports and their hinterland links.

Save the Date: Rhine Alpine Talk #16 „Shaping the Corridor Strategy from a Regional Perspective”

On February 2nd , 2024, 11.00 – 12.30 h the EGTC Rhine-Alpine will host the 16th edition of the Rhine Alpine Talks.
We invite all potential stakeholders to participate and discuss the implications of the recent developments in the TEN-T Revision, the Greening Freight Package including its recent proposed amendment New proposal on combining transport modes for more sustainable freight .
The bottom-up approach of the EGTC enables it to facilitate between regional and macroregional actors and the merits of such a strategy approach will be part of the discussion.
We hope to achieve a mutually productive exchange of knowledge and perspectives involving Corridor Participants.
A more detailed agenda will follow in due time.

The EGTC Rhine-Alpine thanks all its members and the entire corridor community for the good partnership and cooperation in 2023!
This past year was marked by diligent and comprehensive work with our members. Throughout the year, the EGTC has worked intensively with the corridor community – online and offline – towards establishing an updated strategic approach with consideration to our bottom-up approach and the TEN-T Merger.
We now look forward to exciting activities and projects with you in 2024 and especially to both deepen and expand the involvement of members and corridor participants.
