Smarter Cargo Handling at Inland Terminals with MultiRELOAD
The H2020 project MultiRELOAD is taking logistics to the next level! By using GNSS coordinates, the cargo handling system enables precise positioning of loading units—making terminal operations faster, safer, and more efficient. Recent milestones of the project include the setup of the central system server and the design of a new control cabinet to simplify on-site integration. Together with partners Fraunhofer and duisport, key steps were taken to install LiDAR sensors on cranes, with hardware now ready for deployment. The solution empowers terminal operators with real-time data on loading unit status and location, using camera sensors and a digital twin to optimize cargo flows and train handling. Climate-Friendly Freight Transport: New Charging Parks
Designed by vectorjuice / Freepik
Milence, a joint venture by Daimler Truck, Traton Group, and Volvo Group, has opened a new charging park for electric trucks in Recklinghausen (Ruhr area), Germany. The Recklinghausen location will soon support Megawatt Charging (MCS). The project is part of Milence’s plan to install 284 MCS points across 71 locations in Europe by 2027, supported by EU funding (AFIF). These hubs offer fast charging, modern driver facilities, and are set up on key transport routes. A future digital reservation system will help fleet operators schedule charging more efficiently and streamline operations.
