Project highlight: Trans-Borders+
The TRANS-BORDERS+ project, developed by ten partners from five countries, aims to improve public transport in border regions by strengthening cross-border mobility. The strategy focuses on modernising public transport infrastructure, integrating digital passenger information systems, coordinating cross-border services, and enhancing accessibility and inclusion. The Cross-Border Transport Enhancement Initiative supports the implementation of digital solutions in cross-border public transport and transforms mobility points into modern hubs.
The project also enhances decentralised cross-border Travel Information Services (TIS) in the Austria-Slovenia-Italy region using the Open Journey Planning (OJP) approach, providing a scalable model for other cross-border regions across Central Europe. The Smart Bus Stop Toolbox aims to transform traditional bus stops into modern, multimodal mobility points across border regions, with funding prepared in the Lusatian border region with the Czech Republic and further refinement in the DE/CZ border region.

PREPARED Targeted Analysis Workshop conclusions
Yesterday, the PREPARED (Enhanced Planning and Governance for North Sea-Rhine-Mediterranean Corridor) Pilot workshop was concluded. The pilot brought together stakeholders from across Europe’s transport and spatial planning landscape.
Key outcomes included:
Refinement of Workshop Methodology: Participants critically assessed and improved engagement approaches, ensuring effective workshops.
Sharper Focus on Cross-Border Bottlenecks: Discussions helped clarify the real-world challenges facing transnational freight and passenger transport.
Foundation for Evidence-Based Planning: Insights gathered allow future workshops to be well targeted and impactful.
The momentum from this pilot will directly benefit stakeholder workshops scheduled for September and October.
