EUR 188 million available for clean mobility research projects Horizon Europe

A total of EUR 188 million in EU funding is available under call HORIZON-CL5-2026-01, covering 3 Destinations and 16 topics, including climate transition solutions, transport modes, and smart mobility services, with a deadline of 20 January 2026.
Horizon Europe, the EU’s research and innovation programme for 2021-2027, has a budget of EUR 95.5 billion and aims to support green and digital transitions to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

The latest report on the Connecting Europe Facility (2021-2024), released on the 24th of September, highlights significant financial allocations:
- EUR 21.6 billion of the total EUR 25.8 billion has been directed towards trans-European transport network projects.
- EUR 1.7 billion for military mobility was utilised within two and a half years, with oversubscription rates exceeding four times the budget. Rail projects are prioritised, receiving over EUR 15 billion for construction, track upgrades, and the European Railway Traffic Management System’s deployment.
- Alternative fuel initiatives will establish 25,000 supply points for light-duty vehicles and nearly 2,000 for heavy vehicles, contributing to decarbonisation efforts at 63 European airports and providing onshore power for vessels at 28 EU ports.
